Eastern  Pharmacy Aranui  - Marwan Dikhil

The Under 5's Christchurch resettlement expo was a massive hit with people from all walks of life showing up. It was a great honour to have the opportunity to talk to some of these people and give advice about any ailments their children may have and how to treat them as well as give tailored paracetamol dosing. We also talked about other topics such as smoking cessation diet and weight loss with the parents and gave them some helpful tools on how to approach these issues. All in all it was a fantastic opportunity to spread some education around these topics.

My Daughter (Pharmacy student ) and I helped man the CCPG  Pharmacy stand at the recent Christchurch Refugee Expo held in Aranui. We enjoyed talking to the different refugee families that attended. It was great to promote Pharmacy and give information on various health issues, mainly children’s health. Mention was made about MUR and asthma as well. It was great to work in with other Pharmacies and to encourage the visitors to feel free to visit any Pharmacy and ask for advice if the have health concerns. Gaining an insight into what services other agencies provide was interesting.

The Pharmacy @ Opawa – Robyn Harris

The under 5's expo run by the Christchurch Resettlement Service was a wonderful opportunity to showcase to parents and caregivers from all walks of life how pharmacists in the community can help people to understand about the NZ health system and their medications and conditions. Our pharmacy contributed by supplying paracetamol dosing charts and self care cards targeted towards young children and their families.  MUR and other health initiatives were also discussed. Many people attended the expo from many different nationalities. They were deeply appreciative of the advice and resources given by all pharmacists working at the expo and as a pharmacist it was a particularly rewarding experience being there.
