The national mumps outbreak is continuing with 275 confirmed and probable cases so far this year (65% in Waitemata and Counties Manakau, 65% aged 10 -29 years, 49% Pacific ethnicity and 17% Maori). Pharmacies do not get paid for collecting used medicines and sharps but there is no cost for the disposal of them as the CDHB are now funding San-i-pak to collect them from pharmacies.
