Mumps Alert

The national mumps outbreak is continuing with 275 confirmed and probable cases so far this year (65% in Waitemata and Counties Manakau, 65% aged 10 -29 years, 49% Pacific ethnicity and 17% Maori). In the South Island there have been 16 cases including 6 since the start of July (Neslon Marlborough 3, Canterbury 2 and Southern 1).

Pharmacies do not get paid for collecting used medicines and sharps but there is no cost for the disposal of them as the CDHB are now funding San-i-pak to collect them from pharmacies.
