Canterbury Community Pharmacy Group offers a range of services, to help patients better understand their medication and have greater access to pharmaceutical services.

The Medication Management Service

The Medication Management Service includes the provision of a mobile pharmacist service to compliment and support the development of community pharmacy MMS across the Canterbury region. There are two streams to MMS:

Medicines Use Review (MUR) – Pharmacists help people to better understand and self-manage their medicines.

Medicines Therapy Assessment (MTA) – Pharmacist and general practitioner collaborate, to optimise the patient's medications in line with their goals of care.

The service is free to patients who are eligible for New Zealand public health care and who live in the Canterbury Region.

Health Promotion

Pharmacists support people to manage their health and wellbeing. Because pharmacists are accessible to many New Zealanders and have relevant professional knowledge, they play an important role keeping people healthy and well. Services pharmacists provide vary from pharmacy to pharmacy, but can smoking cessation advice, flu vaccinations, and medicine management.

Interpreting and Translating

Peer Support Groups

The Pharmacy Council MUR competence standards require accredited MUR & MTA pharmacists to regularly participate in a Peer Support Group. The aim of these groups is to share and learn from each others' experiences.

Long Term Conditions

The LTC service supports patients with identified medication adherence issues to become self-managing with their medications. The community pharmacy service is available to those patients with a long term health condition, such as diabetes, heart or respiratory problems, depression or arthritis.
