David Meates

David brings extensive leadership and governance experience across the health, community and corporate sectors, including 12 years as Chief Executive of the Canterbury District Health Board. More recently, he served as Interim Chief Executive of Rowing New Zealand. He currently holds several governance roles, including King’s Fund Senior Associate, Aspire Canterbury Board Member, Chair of Ki Te Tihi / The Loft, Trustee of Terra Nova and Just Foundations, and Board Director of Orion New Zealand.

Passionate about supporting organisations through change, David brings valuable strategic insight and a strong commitment to effective leadership and good governance. He also firmly believes in the important role community pharmacy plays in the wider health system, recognising its potential to improve healthcare access and outcomes for local communities.
